Rondo Building Services Pty Ltd (Rondo), one of Australia’s leading non-listed public companies and Asia-Pacific’s pioneer in the design and manufacture of suspended ceiling systems, drywall stud partition systems and plasterboard and render finishing sections announces the expansion and relocation of its National Operations Facility in Western Sydney.

Located in the Fitzpatrick Industrial Estate at Erskine Park in the Penrith City Council area, some 45km west of the Sydney CBD, Rondo’s new facility is now under construction by FDC Construction and Fitout on behalf of Fitzpatrick Investments Pty Ltd and is due for completion in September 2009. This purpose built facility, with a building foot print approaching 43,000m2 on a 66,000m2 site, will accommodate in excess of 170 people. It will also offer significant performance improvements to stakeholders and underpin Rondo’s growth objectives and market position well into the next decade.

The relocation will allow Rondo to grow its manufacturing capacity by more than 50%, provide world class distribution capabilities and opportunities to grow into adjacent markets, while achieving considerable operational efficiencies not possible at the current St Marys site. Group General Manager, John Wintraaken says “with the continuing increases in penetration of light weight construction through both commercial and residential building segments in Australia and the long term growth in overall market activity, our increased capacity will position us well to maximise these opportunities while further improving our offering and service to customers”.

With Safety and Environmental objectives high on its Corporate Agenda, John Wintraaken also points out that “the relocation to our new premises is the culmination of over two years intensive planning. Paramount to this was the consideration of the safety of our people and our impact on the environment. Rondo has long had a culture built on Safety and accountability and it is critical to provide a working environment that further enhances this culture. The new site will all but eliminate our reliance on scheme water, deliver significant reductions in energy consumption, mitigate risks associated with workplace congestion and remove vehicular and pedestrian conflict”.

Rondo is a joint venture company of CSR Ltd and Boral Ltd with revenue having tripled over the past few years.
