Rondo SA, along with many other small businesses in Northern Adelaide, are actively participating in the S1K Environmental Sustainability Project which, in conjunction with Village Green Environmental Solutions, encourages small businesses to reduce operating costs through improved environmental management with a particular emphasis on energy, water and waste management.
The project was launched at “The Watershed” on Friday 5th July. Rondo State Manager Ivar Spanovskis can be seen here with the Premier of SA at the launch, Mike Rann.
The S1K Environmental Sustainability Project started some 12 months ago, and since then Rondo has been actively involved with seminars regarding new ways of operating more responsibility as a business and how a serious reductions can be made to their environmental impact.
Rondo SA has set some challenging goals within the business, which are being progressively measured to ensure they are on the way to better sustaining their energy use and eliminating their contribution to landfill. So far they have achieved some proud results, with Rondo SA showing immediate action on its recycling position. Previously Rondo’s South Australian business would be responsible for almost 20 tonnes of landfill a year, and now due to extensive recycling activity, that is below a single 1 tonne.
Rondo SA is still working feverishly to reduce power consumption and other similar initiatives. These and other environmental goals will be achieved by the continual contribution of ideas from the SA team in finding new ways to mitigate environmental impact, Rondo also have introduced an employee reward scheme for the provision of such ideas.
Rondo steadfastly supports all actions which lead towards a more sustainable future and this mentality is summarised in our goal of Mission Zero. Mission Zero represents our ultimate goal of having zero waste, zero carbon emissions, and zero adverse environmental impact, whilst also working towards zero illness, injury or sickness, and zero accidents in the work place.
