Contractor: Ceiling and Wall Contractors
Project Value: $73million
The UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA has embarked on a $73 million project which has Rondo working with prominent contractors, Ceiling and Wall Contractors, to provide unique creative spaces that will inspire student innovation.
Rondo has so far supplied over 10,000l/m of wall and ceiling systems to this 7,300m2 building project, which has included both Rondo KEY-LOCK® Concealed and DUO® Exposed Grid systems for ceilings, and Steel Stud Drywall Framing System for walls.
The project required complex designs for both the walls and ceilings, with the specification including multiple firewalls and ‘router bit’ ceiling types. Rondo’s team of engineers were able to generate the special designs required, and a Rondo Technical Representative worked closely alongside Ceiling and Wall Contractors on site to provide additional support during installation. To create strong, straight, knock-resistant corners, Ceiling and Wall Contractors used Rondo’s newly released finishing section, PX1 External Corner Bead.
Manufactured using world-patented technology to offer a lower profile nib and smooth expanded setting face, Rondo PX1 allowed Ceiling and Wall Contractors to obtain superior adhesion during installation and a sharp finish.
The facility is on target to attain a 5-Star Design rating under the Greenstar education tool, with the University looking to reach a maximum carbon emission goal of 80-85kg CO2/M2. In order to achieve this objective, there has been careful selection in the building layout, facade treatment, orientation, material selection and building services design.
