ROYAL NORTH SHORE HOSPITAL, NSW

PROJECT DETAILS

A $1.125 billion dollar renovation and consolidation of 53 outdated buildings at the Royal North Shore Hospital campus has been completed. The redevelopment ensures that the hospitals long tradition of care continues by designing contemporary new facilities to support the deliverance of one of the finest practices in healthcare.

Rondo worked alongside Brighton Australia and Thiess for the design of the external facade including framing, cladding and windows. The Rondo wall and ceiling products used on this considerable project include but are not limited to 30,000m2 of facade, 49,500lm of Stud and Track, 36,000lm of various external track including deflection head track and slotted deflection head track from Rondo’s MAXIframe system and 43,200lm of Rondo Top Hats.

With constant support being provided to the project since it commenced work in 2008, Rondo took the time to consider some difficulties and developed several conceptual designs to allow for special load requirements, such as live loads and wind loads that may potentially affect the facade of the building. These intricacies were overcome by the expertise and knowledge of Rondo’s technical team.

Completed in 2014, the healthcare facility provides patients and visitors with inpatient beds for medical and surgical patients, additional chemotherapy and renal dialysis chairs, outpatient (ambulatory care) areas, a comprehensive cancer care centre and 29 procedure and operating rooms – just to name a few of the innovative features that is home to the Royal North Shore Hospital.
