Meet the Presenter - Mike Palin
Mike started in the construction industry at a young age, working with his dad in an aluminium manufacturing company, fitting door lock cylinders on glass doors and pulling apart old shower screens and scrapping the aluminium for extra pocket money.
Mike’s interest in products lead him into studying Industrial Design at university where he majored in sustainable product design and automated manufacturing. His broad skills and understanding of building and glazing products secured him a pivotal role in the Australian Window Association, where he sat on the Australian Building Codes Board Technical Group, Australian Standards Technical Committee and other industry groups such as the HIA.
Following this, Mike moved into Research and Development, responsible for heading up the design and marketing efforts, including New Product Development, Testing and Validation, Project Design consultation and Product Training, and Product Management.
With the same organisation, Mike’s extensive experience in product and technical skills led him into Commercial Project management, where he was responsible for leading the sales, supply and installation of commercial facades. Mike has worked on a range of projects from ultra luxury architectural homes to multi-storey apartments, car show rooms and government school buildings.
